Environmental Responsibility

While Copyfree has spent the last 30 years dedicated to making a technological impact on your business, we haven’t neglected the impact that running our business can have on the environment. Behind the scenes, we’ve worked hard to implement procedures for properly managing the electronic waste removed from your equipment. We’ve partnered with local recyclers and we actively participate in Canon’s parts refurbishing programs.

We’re proud to represent a manufacturer that takes responsibility for its impact on the world. For decades, Canon has explored methods to minimize the environmental burden of its products throughout their life cycle, and through their Canon Genuine Supplies Collection Programs, they’re hoping to reach their goal in achieving zero landfill waste. These programs have been implemented to help our customers easily recycle their used cartridges and plastic toner containers, which otherwise inhabit our landfills. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of these programs and do your part.

Toner Cartridge Return Program
Canon’s all-in-one cartridges have components that can be recycled and reused by Canon. Canon asks that customers return more than one cartridge per shipping label (two or more) to help conserve resources and reduce energy during transportation. This can be done by retaining several cartridges with boxes, and then using the Multiple or Bulk cartridge Return options. For more information on these return options or for a listing of acceptable toner cartridges, visit the program’s webpage:

Plastic Toner Container Collection Program

Unlike Canon’s all-in-one cartridges, Canon’s toner containers are made mainly of plastic material. This makes local recycling and local energy recovery possible. When you recycle locally, environmental impacts associated with the transportation of containers are also reduced. To support local recycling, Canon has engraved a plastic resin code on each container. Both toner particles as well as the plastic toner containers are safe for local recycling and local energy recovery facilities. To find a recycling center near you, visit www.earth911.com. When Canon plastic toner containers cannot be recycled locally or sent to a local energy recovery facility, Canon asks that our customers ship them to the address below at their own expense. Once received, Canon assumes the responsibility and cost for recycling to keep Canon toner containers from going into our landfills.
